Privacy Policy
We keep things simple: your data stays on your phone, and we don’t collect anything about you.
Last updated: March 17, 2026The Simple Version
Your habits and goals stay on your device. We never see them, sell them, or share them with anyone.
What the App Saves
Everything you put into Rewarding Habits stays right on your phone (and your watch if you have one). This includes:
- The names of your habits and goals
- Which days you completed them
- Your progress and reflections
- Any rewards you’ve added
If you buy the full version, Apple or Google handles the payment. We only find out that you bought it. We never see your credit card or payment info.
How We Protect Your Data
Your data doesn’t just stay on your device — it’s actively protected:
Encrypted database
Your habits, goals, and reflections are stored in an encrypted database using AES-256 encryption
Password-protected backups
When you export your data, you can choose to encrypt the file with a password
No internet required
The app works completely offline — no servers, no cloud, no data leaving your phone
On-device AI only
Smart coaching runs entirely on your phone. Your data is never sent to external servers
On Android, database encryption uses SQLCipher. On iOS, data is protected by Apple’s Data Protection framework.
What We Don’t Know About You
We built this app to respect your privacy. Here’s what we never collect:
Your name or email
No sign-up needed
Your location
We don’t track where you are
How you use the app
No sneaky tracking or analytics
Anything to sell
We don’t share data with advertisers
Crash Reporting
On Android, we use Firebase Crashlytics to detect when the app crashes so we can fix bugs. Here’s what that means for you:
- If the app crashes, basic device info (phone model, OS version) is sent to help us fix the issue
- We never see your habit names, goals, reflections, or any personal content — only that a crash happened and where in the code it occurred
- No personal data is ever included in crash reports
How Your Phone Talks to Your Watch
If you have an Apple Watch or Wear OS watch, your habits sync between your phone and watch automatically. Here’s how it works:
- Your phone and watch talk directly to each other using Bluetooth
- The data doesn’t go through the internet or our servers
- It’s like passing a note directly to a friend instead of mailing it
Health Data
On Android, you can optionally connect the app to Health Connect to link your habits with health data like steps or sleep. If you do:
- You choose exactly which health data to share with the app
- Health data stays on your device — it’s never sent anywhere
- You can disconnect Health Connect anytime in your phone’s settings
On iOS, no health data integration is used.
Home Screen Widgets
If you add a widget to your home screen, the app shares your habit info with the widget. But don’t worry, this all happens on your phone. Nothing leaves your device.
Smart Features
If you use the AI coaching features, all the “thinking” happens right on your phone. On Android this uses Gemini Nano, and on iOS this uses Apple Intelligence. Either way, your data never gets sent to any outside computers or servers.
Exporting & Importing Your Data
You can export all your habits, goals, and progress as a file at any time. You own your data completely:
- Exports can be optionally encrypted with a password you choose
- You can import data back into the app from a backup file
- We never see, access, or store your exported files
Reminders
When you set up reminders, your phone handles everything. We don’t see when you get notified or what the reminders say.
Delete Your Data
Rewarding Habits stores all data locally on your device. There is no account, no cloud storage, and no server-side data to delete. You are in full control:
- Delete individual items: Remove specific habits, goals, or reflections from within the app at any time
- Clear all app data: Go to your phone’s Settings > Apps > Rewarding Habits > Storage > Clear Data. This removes everything the app has stored
- Uninstall the app: Removing the app from your device deletes all associated data permanently
Because no data is stored on our servers, there is nothing to delete on our end. Once you clear or uninstall, your data is gone completely and cannot be recovered.
The only exception is crash reporting data (device model and OS version) collected by Firebase Crashlytics. This contains no personal content and is automatically deleted by Google after 90 days.
If you have any questions about deleting your data, contact us at family@rewardinghabits.com.
Kids Under 13
We don’t collect information from anyone, including kids. Since everything stays on your device, there’s nothing for us to collect in the first place.
If This Policy Changes
If we ever update this policy, we’ll change the date at the top. But our promise stays the same: your data is yours, and we don’t want it.
